On an expansive property overlooking Moriches Bay on Long Island's eastern end, our client chose to fulfill a longstanding dream: to build a grand and iconic Shingle Style residence for himself, his wife, and three young daughters. Encouraged to hold nothing back, we turned to a work that amounts to a lexicon of the style at its zenith: George Sheldon's 1887 classic Artistic Country-Seats. In its pages, we found magnificent houses by great practitioners - H.H. Richardson, Wilson Eyre, Bruce Price and McKim, Mead & White-- and used them as well from which to draw inspiration for our client's fantasia.
