Margie Lavender is a Principal at Ike Kligerman Barkley. With extensive experience in high-end residential architecture, she is skilled in all aspects of the design process. Margie grew up in Dallas, and earned her Bachelor of Architecture degree at the University of Texas at Austin, where she explored interests in sustainability and furniture design, and participated in a design and travel intensive study abroad program in Japan. Relocating to Vail, Colorado, Margie designed houses for Rudi Fisher Architects and co-founded the practice’s interior design studio. Later in New York, she designed and managed residential projects for Oliver Cope Architect before joining Ike Kligerman Barkley in 2012. At the firm, she has overseen complex large-scale projects, and is known for her expert eye for detail. Margie is passionate about gardening and our relationship to nature. She is a co-founder of the Hastings Pollinator Pathway and the Garden Club of Irvington Conservation Committee’s National Affairs and Legislation representative. She believes the most successful design occurs when the outdoors is an extension of the home and there is a seamless merging of inside an out. She lives in Hastings on Hudson with her husband, also an architect.
